Here are some Frequently Asked Questions from Summer Forever Online. This is just some of them but I will continue adding more as time goes on.
1. Q: I see these little signs that looks like * Why are these there and where do they come from??
A: This sign is put in place of a bad word by the censor we set up. Even if it doesn't seem like a bad word it could have a fragment of a bad word in it which makes it do that. We are working to fix this.
2. Q: When I'm in the chat room why don't the Cast Members stand out??
A: The Cast Members do stand out if you look close enough. Right now their icon is the same as yours--we have to pay money for them to change it. But for The moment the Cast have their position in their title for instance: in the chat room Indiana shows up as Indiana (administrator). This is the only way to tell us apart so far.
3. Q: What are the rules of the chat room?
A: The chat room rules are diplayed in a list at the top. However all SFO rules still apply in there. The standard Rules/Guidelines are still to be followed in chat at all times whether Cast are in there or not.
4. Q: Every time I click on the live chat button it just brings me to a page with the background and a big white box. Why does this happen?
A: You probably don't have Java installed on your computer, Java is not installed correctly on your computer, or you may have an older version and my need to install a newer version--most computers up-date this them selfs. To get Java/up-date Java/ Fix Java click on this link: java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp it will bring you to the Java download center and tell you what to do.
5. Q: Will Summer Forever Online Community always be free??
A: Yes, it will always be free. We will never ask you for money even when we are getting up-dates that cost money. If someone asks you for money report them immediately. It is our focus to keep SFO a free, safe, happy community.
6. Q: I see many normal members becoming Cast Members overnight but how do I become a staff member?
A: You may think there is a secret way to become a staff member like filling out a form and sending it to us but there is not one. The best way to become a Cast Member is by following the rules and being active on our forum--this means keep posting and being very helpful to members. We will eventually notice this then if you are lucky enough we will ask you.
7. Q: I see people breaking the rules alot how do I tell the Cast about it?
A: It is very simple just pm a Cast Member and tell them what rule they broke how they did it and where you saw it. If you don't get a response don't worry we are still working to fix it. If you are in the chat room and someone breaks a rule pm a Cast Member that is actually online This way we can catch the person(s) right in the act. This report will be treated as confidental and no one will know who reported who.
8. Q: Why do you call your staff Cast Members shouldn't you just call them staff??
A: If you might notice Disney calls their staff Cast Members and me (being a big Disney fan) decided to do the same thing. It's still ok to call them staff.
9. Q: It looks like allot of fun to run a web site I think I might want to try it. Do you have any recommendations on who to start it with, and I want it to be free.
A: Yes, actually I do have some recommendations-- ProBoards its the company we use and yes it is free. If you need any help getting it off the ground just pm me and give me the link ill make an account and help you. The link to start with ProBoards is www.proboards.com.
10. Q: Ive been hearing about some future plans for this site, and i want a way to find out if they are true or not.
A: The only way to know if they are true or not is to real the Coming Soon board i will write about all new things and plans that are made for the future there. So basically, if its not on that board its not true. But sometimes word gets out before i have time to write about it so don't put it all in the trash the second you see its not there.
11. Q: Ok the friends list is quite confusing.. How do I use it?
A: for right now its gonna be hard to give you directions on how to use it so pm a Cast Member for help. Right now this is the only friends list we can get so its what we are gonna have to use for a while.
12: Q: How do I tell Cast Members apart from regular members on the Forum? Is there a special color that their title is?
A: Yes acutly there is a special color! look for titles in dark green--these are the Cast Members the rest of the members will be shown in many colors but never in dark green.
13: Q: Summer Forever is a seasonal community?? What does that mean??
A: To save SFO from its horrible fate of being taken offline, we are switching to a seasonal operation. This means that in late fall, we will close our community. In late spring, we will fire it back up! We do this so SFO does not get old. During the time that we are closed, we will update so much to make your welcome back perfect. SFO will be fully operational during late spring, all summer long(DUH!) and in early fall. If you have any questions about this, plase PM an Administrator.
